Upcoming Plan
So far, I have about an hour and a half of footage of some wheelchair sports action on iMovie. I plan to get more exactly two weeks from now when they have another. So, I've just been talking to the Northeast Passage UNH coordinator for now trying to set up a time for an interview as well as working on an interview, my goal is to have it done or have a lot of the shooting done in the next week and a half, two weeks.

My final project will be on what Northeast Passage is doing at UNH. I'm going to an event that's at the Hamel Gym tonight and I hope to find out more about the people who make it work. I've got in contact with the UNH leader of the project already.
An inspiration for my project was the documentary Murderball, here is a trailer,

introduction to me
My name is Max Tedford and I'm a junior Journalism student at the University of New Hampshire. I'm currently taking a class called Multimedia and we have to keep an updated blog for the class. For my blog, I will do a blog on blogs, because I don't usually read them, but all journalists have a blog, so now I do too. I'm going to try to tech this blog out, add an RSS feed into it, do some vlog'ing possibly. I'll try to do some updates from my cell phone too because not only is it a baller thing to do but in ten years from now when everyone uses their cell phone as their phone it's going to be a skill required. My boss will probably try to get me to take classes and stuff on doing news stories on my phone and I'll just tell him I invented it. That's the way to be, ten years ahead of the game. You should also follow me on Twitter, @mxtedford , even though I have no idea how to use Twitter all I do is re-tweet Snoop Dogg and Daniel Tosh. Seriously what is up with the # on Twitter?
My Favorite Blogs
As this blog will be about my search for the best blogs on the internet, I should first tel you about my little knowledge of blogs and my personal favorite blogs. At the end of the semester I will do my awards for best blogs that I have found. A little like the Oscars or Grammys, except with a more biased voter.
Here is my best blogs list for now. The top challengers are compiled from technorati.com's Top 100 blogs. But to be honest, I don't trust technorati's rankings at all so I will also throw in some of my favorites.
Best Music Blog- Goodmusicallday- www.Goodmusicallday.com (GMAD)
Throughout my searching of the internet, I've found the best way to find new music is by searching blogs about certain music genres. GMAD has a much wider niche though, it's not devoted to a certain genre, but to it's fans. When I first started reading GMAD it was mostly a site that just posted new rap music with the occasional indie rock song. Now though, GMAD, which has grown very quickly, has devoted to learning what type of music it's readers actually want to listen to. With numerous polls on their website and of course reader feedback, the writer(s) of GMAD have been able to push less mainstream types of music such as dubstep, college rap, etc. while still keeping high(possibly increasing) traffic.
Best Science Blog-
I really don't know. I don't look at science blogs, I do peruse NASA.com every now and than but I don't really have a best science blog, yet. Update, technorati doesn't even have a category for science blogs? Do they not exist? How does that make sense, I feel like blogs are the perfect way for scientists to announce things they're experimenting on and their ideas. I guess I'll find out this semester.
Top Challengers:
Best Technology Blog-
While I have definitely been on a number of technology blogs, I've never been that pleased with one so I've never actually been keen on going back to them. Their are a TON of technology blogs though, like the technorati 100 list is pretty much just made up of technology blogs. So for right now, this is a category that has no winner.
Top Challengers: www.TechCrunch.com, www.Gizmodo.com, www.Engadget.com
Best Entertainment Blog- Filmdrunk- www.Filmdrunk.uproxx.com
I don't even go on this site a lot and I barely watch movies but I still manage to stay on this site for a good half an hour whenever I visit and I always want to show my roommate stuff I find on it. Just cool lists and news. It's funny, entertaining, and kind of newsy in the entertainment world. On a scale from one to ten it's like a seven, which easily takes the entertainment category in my book. If an entertainment blog makes me not hate everything about Hollywood, it's a winner. The funniest part about this category, I have TMZ in the top challengers list, and I hate EVERYTHING about TMZ, but it's still better most entertainment blogs.
Top Challenger: Slashfilm, Deadspin, TMZ.
Top Business Blog- Bargaineering- www.Bargaineering.com
Business blogs exist? Like people don't just read the Wall Street Journal? That's what I first thought of when I went thought about the prospect of a business blog. So I go check out technorati's business blog section and it turns out it's just mostly more technology blogs. I did manage to find this little gem though. I honestly named this the best business blog before even clicking on it, just love the name. The blog itself isn't bad either though. Just good advice on how to spend your money.
Top Challengers: www.TheSimpleDollar.com, www.Retireby40.org, http://blogs.wsj.com/corruption-currents
Best Sports Blog- ESPN.com's NFL Divisional Blogs-All ESPN Blogs
Kind of broad because it's eight blogs, but the guys over at ESPN do a great job of keeping up with the divisions they cover. This is probably the most heated category because I do really like sports and theirs a blog for pretty much every single detail of sports out there. Really Bill Simmons could've easily tooken this category if the man updated his blog at least once per week but that's asking for way to much apparently.
Top Challengers: Bill Simmons, Daily Dime, The Forde Yard Dash
Best Blog- Barstool Sports- http://barstoolsports.com/
This was an easy one, I don't think anyone even comes remotely close. Barstoolsports isn't just a blog, it's an empire. With four different websites(but for my sake, 3) that are all awesome, again besides Stoolala, the Barstool Empire is the greatest blog(s). It's run and owned by ElPresidente but features many other writers who all have their own say on what people send into them, random news, some sports, and "smut." While Barstool obviously started out as a sports blog it has considerably outgrown just doing sports. The fact it's only ranked 1000 on technorati makes me think that technorati is probably the least reliable site on the internet.
Top Challengers: Daily Dime, Brobible, GMAD
So that's not the entire extent of blog knowledge but it's pretty close. I obviously have a lot to learn about the blogsophere and all the blogs out there but that is my goal with this blog.
